My parents came to see us and stayed for a week. It was so lovely to have them here. We feel so loved when people make the effort to come. They mostly just hung out with us while we did our normal thing. We tried to have a few adventures, but it was nice to have them see our lives as they really are. Oh, and we went all out at Salt Lick for dinner one night. Yum! That was my first time tasting the burnt ends of the brisket. Won't be the last. Wish I had some more right now.
The kids helped my mom cook some wiener schnitzel from Aldi. It was really good! I guess it should be since Aldi is a German company, right? Isn't this such a cute picture!
We had to get Andy's! I guess Scotty felt the need to go and hug the ice cream cone, and Grandpa provided some adult supervision.
We climbed up Mount Bonnell to look out at the city of Austin. But we went up the wrong way. There was a shaded path with steps, but we went on the dirt path with no shade. It was a hot day, but we all survived. Thankfully it was not a real mountain. But we got a nice view and learned a little local history.

My mom had Scotty learn a duet with her while she was here. It was so cute with clapping rhythms and playing. I loved seeing them work on it together.
We tried to see bats at the Round Rock bridge, but it didn't really work. There were bats, but they didn't fly out in such a way that it looked really cool, like a stream of smoke. We did walk under the bridge and got a really good whiff of eau de bat. They stink!
It was such a nice visit, very relaxed and comfortable. Thanks for coming, Mom and Dad!
