Mother's Day

It was great! Here are some pictures!



So Mother's Day was also Alan's birthday. This week, we had Alan over for dinner. In the course of our time together, we asked Annie, "Where's momma?" And she kept pointing to Alan over and over. Now I know why--because I took a picture of her and Alan on Mother's Day instead of getting a picture of me and her on Mother's Day. I'd be confused too. I hate to break it to you, Alan, but no matter how old you get, you will never be a mother...despite what Annie might say.

An Idea

In the past when one of Aaron's siblings have been between jobs, Dad Dennis reminds them that they are free to borrow his two brilliant business plan ideas. Idea #1: Get rocks and shape them into stars. Sell them as "rock stars." Idea #2: Make little light-up trees to sit on the back of your toilet. Sell them as "toilet trees." Like I said, brilliant.

I would like to add one more idea to the list. Here it is:

Get together a collection of old and well-loved dolls such as this one, stick them in late 1700's garb, and call them "French Revolution Dolls" or "Guillotine Gracie"...you know, something catchy. You could include a little informational packet inside the box with a short history of the time period. Educational! The heads could be reattachable, and of course the guillotine would be sold separately--milk it for all it's worth. You could even throw in a picture book version of A Tale of Two Cities starring Guillotine Gracie. I think it has real potential.

Or maybe it's just time to get Annie a new doll.

Easter

We filled up our gas tank for the first time in a long time (for $57.16) and headed to Idaho for an Eastery weekend. I'm glad I didn't have my hopes up for Annie to get excited about candy and eggs and cute little bunnies...because there was no Easter-themed enthusiasm happening this year. But we still had a great time! Annie's favorite feature was the swing in the backyard.



The weather was lovely, amazing for Idaho in April. The town put on a pretty fancy Easter egg hunt. Abbie's and Liz's kids all got at least 15 eggs each. So we had egg salad sandwiches and deviled eggs galore.

Of course we all went to church together. It was so nice to be with two of my sisters and my mom for Relief Society. Abbie had lotion and jewelry that kept Annie thoroughly entertained. And Annie looked so grown up in her little springtime dress (one of Abbie's wonderful donations).




I realize now that I basically only took pictures of Annie. But we truly had a grand time with everyone who was there.
