Utah/Idaho Pilgrimage

We made the trek up to Utah and Idaho. It was great! We flew, and that's always magical. We did Frontier, and everything went smoothly. You hear all those horror stories about flights with them. But ours was a good one, for the record.

We spent Memorial Day weekend with the Dennises. We went up to Rachel and Russell's new house. It was fun to see it. Aaron and his dad helped Russell move some appliances while the womenfolk and children went to a dinosaur park. It was a little tricky for the moms to stay together with the different age groups. Adelaide and Rylan wanted to be at the little play set. Annie and Scotty wanted to run around and be sure to see every single dinosaur. But a fun time was had by all.

We had dinner together on Sunday and played games and did puzzles. It was a nice weekend.

After that, we headed to the McCombs family reunion at Aspen Grove. It was COLD!! But it was nice because there weren't a ton of people there, so we kind of had the place to ourselves. There was no waiting in line or a rush to get to the different activities. And there were tons of activities. We got tired! No just sitting around and eating. Don't get me wrong...there was plenty of food, but we actually had a chance to expend some energy between meals and thus feel actual hunger before the next time we waddled to the trough. It was good food;) And lots of food. With cereal and chocolate milk at every meal. The kids were in heaven. There was lots of waste. It was amazing. And the scenery was even better. It was breathtakingly beautiful.

Annie was tall enough to do the ropes course. She was pretty nervous about it at first. But Aaron went up there with her, and she was able to have a lot of fun. I did the ropes course, too, and it's hard not to feel scared. You know you're safe, that the harness will catch you. But there's a strong fear instinct with being up that high.

The picture is blurry, but do you see the cereal and the chocolate milk? This was every meal.

The kids went into groups based on age. Their leaders were fun BYU students. It was great to have the kids taken care of because then the adults could go off and do activities together. There was still plenty of family time, too. It was great. With food and childcare provided, it was basically like a mountain cruise.

We made a quick trip to the Lewises' house. There is a special bond with these former neighbor cousins and neighbor aunties. We love them.

We were also able to do a quick trip to Idaho. Thanks to Aaron's parents for letting us borrow their car. Felicia came up with her kids, and of course we hung out with the Halls. It was awesome. It was fun to catch up with Jacob about his door-to-door satellite selling adventures. Interesting to think about it from the salesman's perspective. Aiden and Scotty were so cute. And there was lots of game-playing, park-visiting, hair-doing, and tree-climbing.  I was also glad to be able to chat with Liz about her exciting new job teaching school next year.
