This year we went to the Provo Library's Fairy Tea which is a pretty popular event. I stood in line for an hour and a half for tickets on the day they went on sale. We dressed up in our fairy finest and joined our K. friends for a fancy evening.
The Fairy Tea was a well-oiled machine. It was short and sweet. The treats were tasty. Little girls got to twirl around in their pretty dresses under a starlit canopy. And everyone got to meet the Fairy King. My only complaint: where the heck is the Fairy Queen? The Fairy King has pretty fairy attendants but not a queen? All of these girls go up and curtsy before the Fairy King--the one man in our midst (aside from the tights-wearing storytime leader turned herald). He needs a queen! The picture above is nice, but it looks a little too much like a harem, right? The guy who played the fairy king is the director of the library, a totally awesome dude. He should bring his wife next year. Every Oberon needs a Titania. Can I get an "amen"?
The Fairy Tea coincided with International Women's Day. So this feminist rant was definitely in order.

Yes, I agree - every man needs a woman! Maybe she was out twirling on the dance floor
I would like to believe that the fairy queen was actually out amongst the people serving them....no time for such nonsense as publicity shots. Free the women!!!
