Texas has been amazing this fall. September 1st rolled around, and the temperatures suddenly, magically went from 100 degrees every day to low 90s. We could definitely feel the difference. It inspired us to go hiking.
I can't believe I've started calling a walk through a wooded area hiking. But they do use that term here. And "nature walking" doesn't have the same ring to it. We decided to call our hike a FAT trip and that automatically made it more exciting. A very important element of a FAT trip is the food. We ordered some breakfast from Cracker Barrel, picked it up, and ate it in the car. Then we went to a pretty, shaded trail that was in the middle of a suburban Austin neighborhood. It did a good job of pretending to be away from it all. And it was the perfect length, and there was even a little bit of elevation gain.

I love the picture of the leaning kids!
Was that at the Botanical Gardens?
Did I miss something? What did FAT stand for?
