Mom and Daughter Trip to Utah

Annie and I had a grand old time making the trip to pick up Charlie. The big event was going to see BYU's production of The Secret Garden. My mom and I first saw this musical in Freeman, South Dakota. They did an AMAZING job. We both remember the moment at the end of Act I when Mary finds and opens the door to the garden. The music swelled, and a big, bright light shone through the door, highlighting Mary's silhouette. BYU's production was excellent, but it's hard for that Act I moment not to fall flat after seeing Freeman, South Dakota's version of it!

I loved the actor who played Dickon. His voice was incredible. All of the acting and singing was top notch. This can be a confusing play, though, with all of the dead people and time/space jumps. But I got to sit by my mom and hold her hand through the good parts. That was what I wanted.

My dad and my sisters and their spouses came, too. And Klara. As well as Jason and Heather and Emma. It was a party! We celebrated all of the November birthdays and also hit up the Orem temple open house. It was stunning!

And then, of course, we picked up Charles Bingley. And I had a delicious dinner with the Dennis clan. It was nice to catch up with them, even though I was pretty distracted with the puppy. Julie, Angela, and I did have an excellent conversation about the Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion. It was delightful. And so fun to visit with Rachel and Russell as we picked up our puppy. It was comforting to get a puppy from people we know. And what a treat to witness Russell's dyed-blonde hair (for his Ken Halloween costume) with my own eyes.

Such a blessing to be part of these awesome families of ours!
