Homeschool Adventure

We recently took advantage of our homeschool status and spent a Friday in the mountains.  This September has been absolutely beautiful. Our plan was to hike to a spring which didn't really work out. But we stopped and played in a creek and ate lunch. The kids saw a bunny and a snake and lots of butterflies. They also found potatoes laying in the grass. For some reason that was very exciting. The other exciting discovery was a bottle of bubbles someone had left behind.
We LOVE these homeschooling buddies, and will be very sad when they move in the next couple of weeks.

Annie had some trauma when we got home from the hike. There were some incredibly tenacious burrs stuck in her hair. She picked them up when she was wandering around at the edge of a creek. We left them in too long--I took her to the library with them in her hair! It was one of those mom moments when you arrive somewhere only to realize your kid is naked or has snot all over their face or is carrying a dirty sock...or has nearly ten burrs snarled up in her hair.

When she first showed them to me, I thought there were maybe three in her hair. There turned out to be more like ten! I basically had to rip them out. Not fun. This is the hairdo (and sad-face) that resulted.
All-in-all, it was a very educational experience.

Oh, that sad face! Sometimes hair is such a trial for us ladies!
